The Blitz: Updates on searches at UTPB, WT, and Schreiner
What would be the fallout if a Texas Athletic Conference was created?
It’s a new era at West Texas A&M after Josh Lynn was hired as head coach following a disappointing 5-6 record in 2022. Lynn is familiar with the LSC from his time as head coach at Eastern New Mexico. His teams at ENMU were known for the triple-option, but fans can expect to see a vertical passing attack. Lynn said the Buffs will continue to control the clock with the ground attack while spreading the defense vertically and horizontally.
The Buffs defense is expected to be a strength of the team again this year, led by linebacker JT Cavender, who is set to return from an elbow injury. When he arrived, Lynn focused on recruiting the players on WT’s roster, and he convinced wide receiver Noah Bogardus to exit the transfer portal. Bogardus provides the Buffs with a solid deep threat. The Buffs offense will need to improve in the red zone this season after finishing seventh in the LSC, scoring touchdowns on a mere 58 percent of their attempts.
