Coach: Paul Duckworth. Starters returning O/D: 7/9. 2023: 8-2, 7-1 SAC
Texas Wesleyan will have a new coach for the first time since restarting the program in 2017. Joe Prud’homme resigned in mid-March after leading the Rams to a share of consecutive SAC titles. Paul Duckworth was named interim coach and had the interim tag removed in early May. Duckworth assumes command of a program he helped build that’s on the verge of becoming a national powerhouse.
“It’s not a reboot or a start from scratch,” Duckworth said. “We’ve done that, and we’re reaping the rewards. Joe and I worked together for so long that nothing’s really changed. We’re more concerned with getting these men to buy into their greatness and ensuring they graduate.”
Duckworth said the key to the Rams earning a bid to the playoffs revolves around winning the fourth quarter and remaining poised when mishaps occur during games.
