LUBBOCK -- Texas Tech's grand opening of the Womble Football Center and South End Zone expansion is a message to the college football world - the Red Raiders are all in. The $242 million project is the single-largest investment in football program history.
The largest continuous football facility in the country includes:
- a revamped locker room with zero-gravity chairs
- the 'Uncommon Man' barbershop in operation every Thursday and Friday
- a recovery suite with two water-pressure beds
- a two-story players lounge with a podcast studio
- a spa with cold plunges and hot tubs
- an equipment locker room with a clothin carousel
- a 15,000-square football weight room that's double the size of the previous one
- a training room with a hydrotherapy cold and hot tubs and an underwater treadmill,
- a recovery area with a cryotherapy machine, red light therapy and two sensory depravation beds
- the largest walk-through room in the country (college or NFL) with a 25x20-yard turf field and 70-foot LED screen that can put the opposing team's offense or defense on the wall
- an alumni lounge with a patio for former players and recruits to watch practices and workouts
There is a skybridge that connects the football center to the new south end zone.
