UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor is set to hire Tommie Robinson as the next running back coach for the Roadrunners.

Robinson, 61, began coaching in the college ranks as a graduate assistant at Arkansas. He’s worked in Texas at TCU in the 1990s and at Texas with Traylor from 2014-15. He spent 2020-22 with Texas A&M.

Former running backs coach Julian Griffin left for the same job at Cal in the offseason. The Roadrunners went 7-6 last season, overcoming a poor start to the campaign to reach their fourth bowl game in four years under Traylor. They had won at least 9 games in each of the previous three seasons. The UTSA backfield will be led by Robert Henry and Brandon High.
