Aldine ISD will be looking for a new head football coach at Eisenhower High School as head coach Odell James will not return to for the 2025 season after leading Eagles for the past two seasons.

James, who, as a player, was a local legend at MacArthur High School, played collegiately at Baylor before embarking on his coaching career. James has stops on his resume as an assistant at South Oak Cliff, Plano Prestonwood, Corsicana and Duncanville where he was part of their 2022 state championship staff.

James spent 2018 as the athletic director/head coach at Bruni, a 2A program in Far South Texas, where he spent one season before heading to Corsicana. He has worked as part of coaching staffs led by state championship head coaches Reginald Samples, Jason Todd and Hal Wasson.

Last year was a difficult one for James, whose wife suffered a stroke in late September, which she has since recovered from.

Aldine ISD has posted the Eisenhower job on the THSCA website so expect there to be plenty of statewide interest for one of Houston’s traditional power programs that is looking to climb back into contention after posting a 5-5 record in 2024.
