One of TXHSFB’s preeminent title towns may be adding a second high school within the decade.

Community Impact reported on February 4 that Celina ISD proposed a $2.295 million bond to build seven new elementary schools (which would bring the total to 13), two new middle schools (bringing the total to four), and a second high school. The second high school would open in either 2029 or 2030, and the district expects to have three to four high schools in the next 20 years.

“A vote for this bond is a vote for the future of Celina ISD," bond committee member Ben Hangartner said. “Let’s come together and invest in our schools and support our students together. We can honor the legacy of our past and build the future.”

The proposal cites population projections that place Celina with 23,870 students by the 2033-34 school year. That figure is triple current enrollment numbers. The US Census Bureau’s May 16, 2024, report named Celina the fastest growing city in the country.

The last day to register to vote is April 3, while early voting runs from April 22-29. Election Day is May 3.

Celina High School won its ninth state championship in 2024 after going 16-0, including a 55-21 win over Kilgore in the 4A Division I State Championship.
