Temple ISD has made the move to promote offensive coordinator Chad President to the Wildcats head football coach replacing Scott Stewart who in mid-December announced his resignation. The news was first reported by Greg Willie of TempleBeltonSports.com.
President is a legend in Temple as a player he led the Wildcats to a state title game appearance in 2014 and then played four seasons at the Division I level at Tulsa. "It's a dream come true for me, as a kid this is what I wanted to do and where I wanted to be a head coach. I'm just so blessed. I've got a long list of people to thank along the way, it has been an emotional day," said President.
After finishing up his playing career President started coaching, first under his old high school coach Mike Spradlin at Rockwall-Heath where he spent four seasons at Heath, three of which as the offensive coordinator. He returned to Central Texas in 2023 to become the offensive coordinator at Waco Midway before joining the staff at his alma mater in Temple for the 2024 season.
President takes over a team in Temple that after struggling in 2023 made major improvement in 2024 posting a 7-4 record before falling to Duncanville in the first round of the playoffs. At just 28-years old some may question if President is ready for a job of this magnitude, "The people on the inside have never questioned me about my age, this profession is all I've ever wanted to do and I've been preparing for this moment since I was young. I've learned under some great coaches along the way and I'm confident we are going to be successful and graduate kids, send kids to college, help mold productive citizens and compete for championships," said the Temple High head coach.
