Hico ISD has promoted offensive coordinator Britt Hart to the position of athletic director/head football coach at Hico High School after the retirement of Todd Swearingen earlier this month. Hart spent the 2024 season on staff at Hico, but he’s no stranger to success holding a 76-33 overall record as a head coach.
Coach Hart is best known for his stint at Falls City where he served as the Beavers head coach from 2015-2019, he rolled up an impressive 58-12 record and lead the Beavers to a pair of state semifinal appearances in his final two seasons.
Hart also served as head coach at High Island for one season back in 2005, he spent 2020 as head coach at Merkel and posted an 11-10 record in two seasons leading Stamford. Coach Hart spent nine seasons as the offensive coordinator in Wellington, where the Skyrockets had plenty of success under head coach Wade Williams. Coach Hart was part of Wellington’s 2013 state title team, where ironically enough they defeated Falls City.
The new Hico head coach inherits a young squad coming off a 5-5 mark in 2024, the Tigers play in a tough District 5-2A Division I that is headlined by state semifinalist Hamilton from a year ago.
