In a bit of a surprise move Boerne head coach Che Hendrix announced to his team on Monday afternoon that he would be resigning his post to take a position on staff with the Arkansas Razorbacks as a senior defensive analyst working with nickel backs.

“These seven years at Boerne have meant everything to me, the entire athletic program has had unreal success, we’ve loved every second of it here. I’m not running from something, I’m running to something and we are excited for the future, but make no mistake Boerne is a special place,” said Hendrix who currently has a 101-62 record as a Texas High School head coach.

Hendrix has turned the Greyhounds program into one of the top programs in all of South Texas leading Boerne High to a state championship game appearance in Class 4A-Division I in 2022. In 2024, in their first season as a 5A program, Hendrix helped guide the Greyhounds to an 11-4 record and an appearance in the 5A-Division II state semifinals.

In seven seasons at BHS Coach Hendrix has posted a 71-19 overall record, prior to his time at Boerne Hendrix spent seven seasons as the Frisco Heritage head coach, he led the Coyotes to a 10-3 mark in 2014 and a regional semifinal appearance.

Coach Hendrix is a native of Dallas and graduate of Lake Highlands High and Abilene Christian University, he started his coaching career as an assistant coach at Dallas White, he then moved to Houston Westside, then Sweetwater for the first of two separate stints there and in between he had a stop at Justin Northwest before joining the staff at Frisco Heritage.

Hendrix has coached all three of his sons at Boerne High, his oldest son Houston Hendrix is currently playing at Air Force as a DB, his middle son Hutson will graduate this year and will be a PWO at Arkansas, while youngest son Hank is currently a sophomore at Boerne.

“Getting a chance to coach my three sons, it is really hard to put into words, grateful is the word that probably comes to mind. There’s a special bond that we have because we were in those battles together and its something I’ll never take for granted or forget,” said Hendrix.
