Byron Nelson 2025 DB Leo Almanza Jr. (6'2, 175) committed to Baylor over Houston, Kansas State and Utah offers. Almanza is rated as a DCTF three-star prospect and checks in as the No. 12 CB in the state.

Almanza has made a name for himself as a versatile two-way star in high school, but he reports that he will focus on the secondary when he joins Baylor. Despite being recruited primarily as a defensive back, Almanza sees plenty of positives all around the Bears' program.

"It's great," Almanza said. "New offense. New offensive staff. That offense is way more explosive than last year. The DBs are all stepping up, and they are getting a lot of playing time. It just means a lot that they get young guys to play and be really good early in their careers."

While rated as a cornerback, Almanza's flexibility allows him to play anywhere in the secondary, a trait that has been recognized by college coaches.

"Most schools see me being able to play where they need me," Almanza explained. "If I'm the third-best corner but the second-best safety, then I would be there. Just wherever I fit in, I could get playing time."

As a junior, Almanza had 26 receptions for 504 yards and nine touchdowns on offense and collected 31 tackles and four interceptions on defense.
